Bose Showcase Store: Bose Cashwrap Valley Fair Mall, Santa Clara, CA
This large-scale replica of Bose's popular Wave radio is one of the first elements the customer sees upon entering the store. The cashwrap is constructed of MDF core with Pionite graphic talc laminate and black sintra ribs, with metal and glass components. The unit measures 120 in. long, 36 in. deep, and 42 in. high. Because the dimensions of the actual radio could not be increased proportionately, the design was modified to make the fixture functional without compromising appearance. A small glass showcase in the front of the cashwrap displays merchandise; one of the "ribs" is used as a handle to pull the glass top forward to access merchandise.

Dino Gift Shop: Gondola Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, FL
The Dino Gift Shop Gondola combines two Walt Disney World fixture types-the 4-bay gondola and post fixtures. The gondola portion of the fixture faces out merchandise in the traditional format, while the posts provide the flexibility to showcase merchandise in baskets, on spinning paddles, or bins. It has an integral lighting system, allowing for the proper illumination of the merchandise without any adjustment to the overhead lighting system. The fixture is wired to receive data and communication feeds for "Image Caputre" from the adjacent Dinosaur Attraction; images are displayed on a 19" flat screen monitor, suspended from an adjustable arm (not shown). Constructed primarily of wood (Ventec veneers) and metal (stainless steel and powder-coated hardware components), the fixture has amber-colored plexi-glass for the back panels and metal shelves for the display of merchandise.

Dylan’s Candy Bar: Lollipop Tree New York, NY
The bulk candy in Dylan’s is housed beneath a sculptured lollipop tree that emphasizes the color, texture, and translucent quality of the candy that the store sells. The tree stands about 10-1/2 feet tall, made of a steel frame skeleton with hand-made resin panels. The lollipop disks range in size from 10 to 30 in., and are attached to the tree branches either from their edges, or using embedded rolled steel tubes. Larger disks are supported from the ceiling canopy. The resin disks are backlit from overhead and from light sources hidden in the cabinet fixture that surrounds the tree; recessed neon at the base makes the fixture appear to float above the floor. The cabinet surrounding the tree trunk houses plastic bin fixtures and open shelving. For durability, the fixture is surfaced with plastic laminate.

Pea in the Pod (A): Modular Mobile Dressing Room New York, NY
Flexibility, mobility and ease-of-installation were the main requirements for the retailer's prototype and flagship stores. Most fixtures in the store were manufactured to be moveable for reconfiguration either of the complete store or individual shops. The custom pre-fabricated mobile fitting room shown here is typically located in the middle and back of the store and is sized for two units, one sized to meet ADA requirements. A slightly smaller fitting room is used as an additional fixture when space allows. The fixtures are fabricated from 1-1/2-in. square-tube sandblasted stainless steel with a glass bead finish. The frame is mounted on top of four heavy-duty casters. The walls consist of a natural textured 100% linen fabric. The fabric, which can be removed for regular maintenance, is secured to the frame with a series of grommets and natural roping. A curtain of the same material hangs at the fixture’s entrance for easy access and privacy. Mirrors, clothing hooks, benches, tables, and stools can be easily added.

Sofia: Counter/Shelving Combination Radisson Plaza Hotel, Kalamazoo, MI
This counter/shelving combination creates an easy transition from one merchandise area to another, adding simplicity and functionality where there normally would be empty space. This fixture, contemporary yet organic, brings together a tall, dimensional wood shelving unit and a limestone slab countertop. Additional shelves were formed by sandwiching open-weave linen fabric between acrylic—the same materials and technique used to create Sofia’s entrance signage. At the store's entrance, a mosaic glass tile countertop with a small inset pool sparkles in counterpoint to the muted natural materials used throughout the store. Additional shelving underneath is constructed from limestone slabs and supported by powder-coated metal tubing.
